Are you concerned about the conduct of an adult towards a child? If something doesn't feel right, don't ignore it. You are not expected to investigate. You are expected to act.
Purpose
This page explains what to do if you witness, receive or become aware of information that may involve Reportable Conduct.
Immediate Actions
- Ensure the child is safe.Call 000 if there is immediate danger.Notify the Nominated Supervisor immediately.Record factual information only.Preserve any evidence.Do not investigate.
Do Not
- Ask leading questions.Interview witnesses.Promise confidentiality.Discuss the matter with others.Delay reporting because you are unsure.
Who do I notify?
- First: Nominated SupervisorIf unavailable: Head of Entity / Approved ProviderNever wait until the end of your shift.
What happens next?
The Nominated Supervisor will assess immediate safety and notify the Head of Entity. The Head of Entity manages all further actions, including any required notifications and investigation processes.
